Something that I used to have - childhood

Diary of a Used-to-be                 As Heraclitus says, “ Nothing in this world is permanent .” Nothing stays permanent because of change. Things are always going to change. Time wears down on everything in one way or the other. The only thing that’s constant in life is change. Change… change… change… It’s a six letter-word that I describe as something that can either bring something good and bad. As change is something that is constant, we all have that one minute in life when we just want to hit pause and think of the times when we used to have something – something that we used to have but is now gone. People all go through different changes, just like how an innocent child change into a person bathed with the embers of reality and maturity. This is something all people used to have – childhood.                 I was in the m...

My CWTS Experience

True Service: My CWTS Reminiscences At the beginning of the first semester, I had to choose between ROTC and CWTS. I was having second thoughts whether I’d push through for ROTC or for CWTS. I remember very well that time the things that were making me confused. First, most of my friends decided to enrol in ROTC because of the fun outdoor activities that were shown to us during the orientation. Also, our upperclassmen told us that it’s more fun in ROTC than in CWTS. However, I thought about the purpose of CWTS. I related its purpose to the purpose why I chose BS Biology in the first place. Civic Welfare Training service, or what we all know as CWTS, refers to the program component or activities contributory to the general welfare and the betterment of life for the members of the community or the enhancement of its facilities, especially those devoted to improving health, education, environment, entrepreneurship, safety, recreation and moral of the citizenry and other social welfa...

Expository Essay about Filipinos

You know you’re Filipino when…             Every nation has its differing ethics and typecasts, and the Philippines is no exception. We Filipinos are a very proud and comparatively sophisticated race with a lot of distinctive personalities bonded on each and every one of us. We firmly believe that our country contains one of the most distinguishing individuals in the world though our race has been challenged with certain conditions. We have been colonized by several countries for centuries – noting Spain to be the most influential.  Some of us even went to foreign nations.  However, despite of these, most of our core traits inherited from our ancestors is still honoured to this day. What made the character of a Filipino? What influenced the Filipino race? What makes a Filipino different from citizens of foreign nations?             Before the coming of the Sp...

A Descriptive Essay about The Green Inferno

(write the essay as if you were one of the characters) It All Started             It all started when we went to the forest of Amazonia. Rows of several trees planted on the area surrounded with waters that were not as clear as crystals – it was as dirty as having mud dispersed in water. And it was all because of deforestation. We know we had to preserve the wilderness. The continuous cutting of trees had to stop that’s why we had to ignite the fire to stop it. We firmly took our stand and locked ourselves with cold chain around the trees where we voiced out words to save Amazonia. As risky as it was, one of us was almost shot by the guards. It was a moment that made our hearts beat fast for we thought of what could happen. We were made to surrender; unwillingly, we were seized by armed forces. However, the ball was rolling on our side. We weren’t sent to confinement. We hopped on our plane and started to make our way home....
